Our Outside Area Project!
We are continuing to develop our outside area again this year.. we have been working really hard, with all of our helpers, to create new areas. Our school council have been consulting with their classes to create a new reflection area as well as contributing to ideas for the whole outside space.
We have been very lucky to have the Officer Cadets from RAF Cranwell to help us with digging and building outside and we have have had lots of parent volunteers helping us too!
Our new Allotment Area
Before, this was an overgrown area that we didn't really use. The pond had broken and it was full of weeds and ivy.
Our gardening club have been busy too! They have helped move soil and are helping to dig other areas in school ready for planting.
At the minute it is an area ready for planting. We have just ordered allotment beds to plant our new crops in and we are looking forward to planting lettuce, broccoli, onions, sugar snap peas and much more.
Our new Stage Area
We now have a stage area outside.. before this was an usused space in our outside area.
Our new Music Area
Our new Wildlife Area
We have now had a new fence built and our chickens live in this area. We are going to buy a bird table and bird bath and we are hoping to grow some wild flowers in here.
Our new Sensory Garden
We are developing this area..
Our Mini-Welbourn Village
Last year we were very lucky to secure funding from The Co-op to build our own mini village in school. We have had the slabs and artifical grass laid and we have had the houses built. We have 4 buildings, a Co-op (our village was the first to have a Co-op outside of Lincoln in Lincolnshire), a blacksmiths, 2 houses and a fort. We have some furniture on the inside and we were delighted that volunteers from the Co-op helped us paint the houses. They are also very kindly donating a custom made Co-op sign, a till, baskets and carpet to help make our houses as authentic as possible. A huge thank you to everyone that has been involved in our project.
